Laura E. Oliver

Laura has been a strong advocate in the courts for over 20 years. She has practiced exclusively in the area of family law since opening her practice in 2000. After 20 years of practice, Laura still loves what she does. Laura has attended before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal and has dealt with all aspects of litigation. Laura does not view herself as a ‘litigator”, however; she likes to think of herself as an advocate for her clients, helping her clients develop a plan and approach that is best suited to the individual client and his or her situation.

The practice of family law is different from any other area of law. We deal with emotions; very strong emotions. We deal with mental health issues, addiction issues and personality disorders – a lot. That means, from our perspective, traditional approaches are not always effective. We strive to appreciate the situation fully and develop a strategy to resolve the legal issues in a manner that improves the situation.
